Angelology - Romaji and Translation

The first song in the album is Angelology. This song can be connected to the first song of Maisery (Ghostology). The contents are practically the same as Ghostology. An angel is introduced, together with her tasks. She is given tasks, which always include to take out people and guide their soul to either heaven (Awakening) or hell (Cruelty). These worlds are part of the "afterlife". The third world that is described (World that has begun to move) represents the present world. The angel is never rewarded for what she does, thus her only wish, meeting the people she has guided to afterlife, wouldn't come true. One day, she is sent out again, but the force of emotion sends her into doubt, whether she should kill or not... thus she makes a mistake... because her buried feelings overtake her for an ephemeral time...

The tale is based on Andersen's story "Engelen" which translates to "Angel". Paspal has stated this in their official blog. I take the story from Andersen as the red thread for my translations. Some things I keep in mind is that the story from this CD has a little bit of sci-fi mixed in it (the mechanical part), god is not a good entity in this CD, the angel is female instead of male and a friend has been made up. Next to that, I noticed there was colour coding in the booklet. I did not code it in the romaji, because I thought it was not neccesary to do so. I tried to adapt my translation to the point of view and tried to figure out who did what in the story.
Gray stands for an angel, the identity of him/or her is ambiguous and can be interpreted on different ways
Red stands for the wings/machine, I think it refers to the angel's previous life, even though the songs dictate that it is the angel's only and best friend. Read more about this in song 2, 3 and 4.
Blue stands for an eccentric angel, which is in this case the angel from whose point the songs are sung. This angel brings souls from the one side (real life world) to the other side (God's side)

Melody wise, this song is my favourite. I love how you can faintly hear the melody of Shinku no Reminiscence in the intro.especially the part just before the Engrish rylics (read: English lyrics). I like the usage of different words for the same lyric too, the word "sky" is sung, but every time it refers to another sky of another world.

Translation:

I am a fighter machine and an enforcer
who connects the devastated God's country to the human world.
Also fighting enemies with expressionless today,
memories of wings are painful
but cannot be adverse to the program as it is a command.

fukiareru kaze wo mi ni matotte
shuuen wo yobu satsuriku no tenshi
kanjou mo naku tsukitateta tsurugi wa
utsushiyo to kakuriyo wo tsunagu seisai

She follows about the violently blowing wind,
she calls out demise, an angel of massacre
without any emotion, the knife of punishment is thrusted and
connects the present world and afterlife

shiroku habataku kikai no tsubasa
unmei wo michibiku
ubai hikihagashita hito no zaika wo
sono se ni yadosu

Mechanical wings flap whitely
guiding destiny
snatching away, pulling out and disconnecting people's offenses
she carries them on her back

kakusei no sekai wa hakugun no sora
ariafureta katsute no shiawase nado doko ni mo nai
kuruisaita hanki wo kirikizande
aa《program》sareta shimei
owaraserukara......

The world of awakening has a flocky white sky
Overflowing former happiness and so forth are nowhere
Growing madness, chopping up the banner of revolution
she shall end the "created (programmed)" task.......

saewataru yaiba wo furikazashi
nagiharau kikaijikake no tenshi
senka wo kesare  tataerarenaku to mo
sore ga kioku ni umekomareta shukumei

Skillfully, the mechanical angel raised her blade and mowed down her target
The result of battle was erased, without her being praised
it became buried inside her memories, it was destined like that

hibiki kagayaku kikai no tsubasa
kioku wo tokihanatsu
tsumi mo nai tenshi wo ayamefuujita
hisanna kako wo

The reverberating and shining mechanical wings
memories were released
preventing the innocent angel from killing
a tragic past

zankoku na sekai wa taihai no sora
doukoku ni aegu tsubasa wo misue nani wo omou
mukuwarenai tatta hitotsu no negai
aa michibikareta tamashii wa
meguriau kara......

The world of cruelty has a degenerated empty sky
suffering from lamentation, she stared at her wings, what was she thinking?
she was not being rewarded, although she had only one wish
to meet the souls......
she had guided in the past

atsuku uzuita kikai no tsubasa
sono itami no kanata
yureta fuugawari na tenshi no namida
koboreta setsuna

the mechanical wings throbbed ardently
beyond that pain
the tears of the shaking eccentric angel
overflowing for a single interval of time

ugokidasu sekai wa fukushuu no sora
ichirin no hana nigirishime osoikakaru tenshi
hosoi yaiba sono katana wo tsuranuku
aa hitoshizuku no kekkan ga hoho wo tsutatta

The world that is starting to move has a blue sky of revenge
grasping tightly on a single flower, the angel suddenly attacked
a thin blade pierced through the heart (sword)
a single drop of a defect flowed down from her cheeks......

Heartlessly slit a single flower the angel was holding.
I won the battle but the wings of the machine gently shriveled.
There was no emotion, but somehow tears run down my cheeks.
Is it a program error?

Translation notes:

- For this stanza

I combined the first two lines into one sentence and pushed the word 薙ぎ払う to the end. I also added "her target" to 薙ぎ払う, because it seemed more logical to me, since the next act does not apply to her target.

- Double meaning of 刹那 (in my interpretation)
刹那 or ksana is a duration of a mental event, which is about 1/75 second (so it's very short)
The mental event part is very important here. I also think Paspal chose for this word over 瞬間 because it sounds pretty close to 切ない which means painful.

Lalue sings  かたな instead of しんぞう or こころ
This is either a mistake or is done on purpose.I shall try to explain my way of thinking.
Option 1:  Mistake, Lalue first sings 刃, which she does correctly, maybe she misread the part of the stanza and ended up singing 刀 (looks like 刃) instead of 心臓
Option 2: Purpose, she sings about a mistake in this stanza, maybe on purpose she made a mistake in the lyrics to emphasise that the angel makes a mistake.
Whether you think it's option 1 or 2, the choice is yours!
