光と闇のフラグメント (Hikari to Yami no Fragment) - Fragment of Light and Darkness - Romaji and Translation

This is the only new song in the Fragment album. I like it a lot, especially the parts where the voices of Yuki and Sayu intertwine. I imagine the two girls on the cover to be the dolls that are drawn on the cover of the cd.

Yggdrasill - Romaji and Translation

Wait what? 13 posts on the 24th already? Is Lucky not lazy this time? Well... They probably reverse my permission to use legacy blogger today, so I just try to output as many posts as possible with legacy blogger.

This song is about the worldtree "Yggdrasill" to which the girl (Stella or a previous reincarnation of her) devotes prayers. It's an ethnic style song with an air of grace to it. The song is a kind of window composition. Inside the song, a story is told about how long the Yggdrasill has lived and that she devotes prayers to it. There is not much else to say about the song as it is pretty straightforward to me. 

This song is also featured in the 10th CD, but instead of being sung by Hato, it's sung by Sayu. I think both versions are likable. Ethnic is not entirely my thing but oh well, the composition is not bad at all. I really like the harmonies at "の欠片" in both versions.

Translation notes:

- 幾多の巡り合わせ -> literally translates to something like numerous chances, but it makes no sense
- 世界樹　-> World Tree, in norse mythology it's named "Yggdrasill" (see title of the song). It is a huuuuge tree that connects worlds.
- 永久に続く　世界樹が織りなす幻想に　祈り捧げ・・・, According to the lyrics, the girl devotes her prayers to the "fantasies", but I actually expect she devotes them to the Yggdrasill

-  Interpretation of these 2 stanza:
神秘の森の大樹に　その息吹は宿るという, I interpret this as something similar to 神秘の森の息吹 大樹に宿るという
静かな刻の大地に　その息吹は宿るという, goes the same for,  静かな刻の息吹は 大地に宿るという,

Gates of Hades - Romaji and Translation

Here we have the last song of the Grimoire album! The song has also been featured in the Fragment CD with the same lyrics (Track 3). I think this song describes the fall of darkness of the hermit. She gets lured into the darkness and is offered a forbidden red fruit. The forbidden red fruit might be the fruit from the Bible, or a pomegranate. I think the second one is more likely. Why a Pomegrenate? Well, because this song is called Gates of Hades. Hades is the Greek God of the dead and also a synonym for the underworld.

One day, Hades wanted a wife and raided a girl, Persephone, who happened to be the daughter of the goddess Demeter (of harvest). Demeter desperately wanted her daughter back, Zeus (the king of the gods) agreed, on the condition that her daughter shouldn't have eaten anything in the underworld. Unluckily, the girl had already eaten one pit of a pomegranate and thus she couldn't come back to the earth permanently. A deal was closed then, in the spring and summer Persephone would live on the earth, her mom happy and all crops / flowers / plants would grow well. In the autumn and winter, Persephone would have to go back to her husband, Hades, in the underworld and her mother would be so sad that the crops don't grow.

I'd like to think this song is a twist on the story of Persephone and Hades. The girl wanders into the territory of death herself because she went into the labyrinth. Then she eats a fruit and becomes unable to return to the normal world. As a puppeteer, she lures more people into the dark and thus becomes the "god of nothingness".

This composition is truly nice, both Hato and Yuki's voice fit the song, their voices are both very haunting, which perfectly fits this song. I like how Noël decided to use a Harpsichord-like instrument at the beginning and then it transitions into an electrical organ with layers of chants. The drums in the chorus and post chorus are also great, they remind me of Ariabl'eyes a little haha.

Translation notes:
-    A beautifully blooming flower mingles with the rotten soil and A beautifully blooming flower, tied by frozen water, are basically saying the same. A beautiful girl falls into darkness and gets converted by the dark powers into a distorted god.

光と闇のフラグメント (Hikari to Yami no Fragment) - CD Translation

Is Lucky cheating to get 13 posts a month again with making a lot of preview pages? Uhh.... maybe?

This CD is basically a Pre-CrossFantasia haha. It has only 1 new song and has 2 remastered tracks with a different vocalist.  If you have not heard the crossfade:

The two girls on the cover seem to me as if they are reincarnations of Stella and Luna. Who knows... Because... Like CD 2 and 3, there is no introductory voice acted track. We never know if the 6 girls on the covers (Stella Luna from Ataraxia/Nostalgia, the girls from CD2 and 3 and the girls from CD 10) are the same... The order in which I liked the songs are 3=1>2, I think this version of Gades of Hades is really AMAZING, but the Fragment song is also awesome. Yggdrasill is also growing on me, but I still prefer fast songs.
