Gikyokugensou Merveilles: Story and Characters

Olivia (CV : Yumi Hara)

A popular dancer who works at the "Twilight Black Cat Pavilion", a tavern for adventurers.
She used to be a member of the "Shadows Brigade", a clan of assassins that no longer exists.

Bust : F (I refuse to believe she is smaller than Alisha, prolly has to do with her underbust being slightly larger due to her being a lot taller but okay..)

Alisha (CV : Aya Uchida)

A dreaming maiden from Wonderland.
Her special ability is singing and her beautiful voice attracts many people.

Age : 18 years old

The story is not translated as good as I wished, but I have to depend solely on my ears... Maybe someday I'll add some revisions to it, but yeah I think the general outline should be clear. Girl meets girl, they perform, have fun, girls leave for trip :).

Story (Condensed a bit):

Prologue:

Alisha arrives in the brilliant town where Olivia works. She goes into a bar, because she is tired and hungry, but she is pretty poor right now. There is light in the store where Olivia works, the "Twilight Black Cat Pavilion". Olivia introduces herself as dancer, bartender and former assassin.  Olivia is about to give a performance. Alisha walks in and then the two "meet by chance"

Merveilles starts to play

Chapter 1:

Alisha finds the bar very busy. Olivia is surprised by seeing a "young girl" like Alisha, thinks she doesn't drink, Alisha confirms that, but Olivia offers to make sweet cocktails instead. Olivia introduces herself again and Alisha tells her story that she got poor because she slacked on singing (which made her money to travel and to eat and to stay at places). Olivia offers her to perform a song with her in exchange for paying her food and drink. Alisha is tempted... and the show begins! Olivia introduces Alisha, who is good at singing to the audience and they go on the stage together. She introduces herself again as Alisha, the dreaming maiden from Wonderland and starts singing.

From Wonderland starts to play

Chapter 2: 

The audience claps and Olivia compliments her, telling she's very jouzu. Olivia asks her if she had heard the rumours of an soirée and if that led her to this town. Alisha confirms and Olivia asks her if she wants to perform on the evening party. Alisha immediately says yes and then realised what she did. Olivia tells her that she can also dance. She proposes to perform together, Alisha is a bit unsure and asks if she will do okay with Olivia dancing next to her. Olivia tells her the soirée is next week, to Alisha's big surprise, who insecurely doubts if she can pull something together in that short time. Olivia tells her it will be okay, to rely on her and that she will tell the comittee that Alisha will join.
Then she starts her own performance in the bar and tells Alisha to watch her closely

Chapter 3: 

A few days have passed, Olivia comes to wake up Alisha by knocking on her door and asks her if she slept well. Alisha tells her that she normally is good at waking up in the morning, but since she helps out in the tavern and  performs every night, she is a little tired but has to do her best! Olivia tells her she of big help with helping at the store, she is cute, which does good to her popularity with the adventurers! Alisha tells her she's good at cooking and making sweets. Olivia expresses her doubts if those sweets fit the liquors well but ought to try it. Then the two get moving to the usual place. Alisha mentions their routine, afternoon for preparation, evening for the store and morning for practice. Alisha then wonders when Olivia even sleeps *ominous music plays*. (Olivia dodges the question pretty much) Olivia says that even though they met the past week Alisha picked her stuff up fast. But there is one more thing they need to take care off, a remnant of an assassin band called the "Shadows Brigade", which might target the festival and she doesn't allow for sacrifices, and that is her distinction between the other remnants. Alisha disturbs her by calling out her name, as she is rambling lost in thoughts and having a troubled expression on her face. Then she mentions how unique the place is where they are just out of the town, as they are surrounded by trees and there is a flowing river. Olivia says that it is silent, there are no people around she often comes here to practise as she can focus here. Alisha remarks that it's almost a secret spot. Then the two practise dancing with Alisha, and Olivia mentions it cannot be that hard. Alisha figures she can copy the movements of Olivia and will manage. Olivia then says that the dance is a tribute of the people to the harvest and to celebrate the spring and that it's a dance with a fitting song. It was easy to remember and the two dance together.

Chapter 4: 

*ominous music*

"I am Alisha, you should know that by now ehehe, wanting to see the rumoured soirée, I came to this town, I can't believe I will perform on that stage myself! But there is something.. I don't have my memories of Wonderland and before that anymore. Probably, it wasn't like that at the beginning, but slowly I became a resident of Wonderland and then... as I travel, sing and dance, maybe I can find back what I lost. As long as, I can enjoy it, I am content. And now I can perform a play on a vivid stage!"
*buzzer*
"Okay the curtains are going up, are you ready, Alisha?"
"Yeah, it surely will go well!"
"Yes, from now on we both colour this stage as primas!"
"The start of this vivid play!"

Soirée starts to play

Chapter 5: 

*clapping sounds*

Alisha is out of breath and found the excitement in the audience great. Alisha knows something is on Olivia's mind. Olivia mentions a possible attack on a noble in the audience. Alisha is shocked, but Olivia tells her to keep on a pokerface on stage. Alisha reluctantly agrees. Olivia spots the assailant and then and they play the final song.
"A former Shadows Brigade member, Olivia of Illusions, I will hold back my former comrades"
Alisha is shocked by how Olivia changes the scenery by just a dance and they go off to another world (this is what I interpret..?) to fight of the assailant. (A lot of words I cannot interpret well without a transcription)

"My shadows! Accomplish your mission!"

Dancing Shadow starts to play

Chapter 6: 

The two have a day off, because they made a lot of money due to avoiding the attack. Alisha asks Olivia if she knew the assailant and what happened to him or her. Olivia told her the assailant went far away and that he used to be one of her comrades. Then Alisha asks Olivia if she was also part of that, Olivia confirms it but denies doing "bad things". She said she had acquired the nickname "Olivia of Illusions" just said that the males played instruments and the females danced and says it's ironic that it's now paying her bread. They move to a stand, Olivia buys Alisha a pendant she likes and she states she is a little sad Alisha will leave tomorrow. Alisha said she indeed gathered quite some funds and could continue her travels, which she really likes. Olivia says that Alisha's songs have a power to make people happy and Alisha says Olivia's dances have the same power. Alisha wants to sing a last song for Olivia.

Epilogue:

Alisha is about to leave and reminiscences a bit about her stay: She performed on the big stage, she enjoyed meeting Olivia and living with her and it was relaxing. She hears a voice "Wait!" in the distance. Olivia comes running and Alisha asks her if she ran after her to tell her if she forgot something. "I made it!" Olivia says out of breath. She says: "No, you're wrong" but I want to go on the trip with you." Alisha is very surprised. Olivia continues with that she had been thinking about it for the past ~3 days and only if she is not a bother. Alisha thinks it's okay, but is worried about the tavern, as Olivia was the face of the store, attracting many adventurers. Olivia replies it will be okay if she discussed it with the master, as it is something she still wants to enjoy while she is young. In exchange, she promises to work even harder when she is back, as it is the place she calls home. And Alisha enthusiastically replies that she also wants to help out. Olivia proposes that they will then try out making sweets that fit liquor. There are still a lot of worlds that they do not know and should explore. Olivia pensively mentions "the legend of never before worlds... and the other name Fantasia" (-LostFairy-'s stories) much to Alisha's surprise. She mentions she had heard of them before in the Shadows brigade. "A world enclosed by the magic of darkness in which a demon princess lives" (Melusine?), "A girl with a mysterious power and coffin? (not fully understanding the first words, but possibly Priscilla) " "A not actually perished Vampire of Dusk (Carmilla), the power hidden in a mysterious village of a holy maiden and a witch(Luna and Stella)" There are a lot of Fantasias they still can go to, but they don't know if they actually exist. Can't find out except by trying! And Olivia agrees that it might be good to have a goal for their trip. She also wants to do something about Alisha's memories. Their first destination is an old big city....(I wonder which... is it Fernestadt?). Alisha asks Olivia if she knows the city.

悠久幻想ノスタルジア - Story and Characters

Another 8 chapters of drama CD which tells us about the meeting of Carmilla, Stella and Luna...
I will do the same as with Grimgard: I shall write out the story (not the transcription) as detailed as possible in English and give an intro of the characters.

Other remarks
- There is around 27 minutes of drama CD.
- Luna calls Stella "Su" because it is written as "Sutera" in japanese, and Stella calls Luna "Lu"

Prologue

Footsteps are heard. "Hey.. Are we really going?" Stella asks Luna. "Yes, if we let today pass, we might not have a new chance" is what Luna replies. Stella still has doubts if they can enter the outskirts of the town because it has been locked, but Luna tells her she has stolen the key from "the sisters". Stella is still scared while Luna interrupts her again. "An old holy item, the mirror of reminiscence, Su, I have been admiring it for a long time, I wanted to see it someday." "Lu... but, will it really be there.. with the power to look back in the past... a magic mirror." "Trespassing is forbidden because the mirror is there, I'm sure of it." Stella then complains again about that she's scared of walking outside in the middle of the night. Suddenly a low, nasal voice can be heard, it is Carmilla, but both are unaware of her precense. "You'll be fine for sure, it's not scary." Stella is surprised and asks Luna if she had said something. Luna replies with: "Uh... I was just thinking about what breakfast would be tomorrow." Stella answers in doubt and says she heard a voice just now. "Su... have you become crazy?" in response Stella says "Don't bully me! It.. might be my imagination". Luna says that she's a scaredy-cat like always. Carmilla's voice resounds once again "Now, you're almost there". "What is the matter?!" is what Stella then asks to Luna again. "It's okay, there is nothing. It must be your imagination". They continue walking. Luna decides to open the gate with the stolen key and Stella starts to pray.  "Dear god, please be lenient with our judgement!".
Luna says that they have been praying every day and that they're fine. Stella responds with that Luna is way too optimistic and Luna says that Stella worries too much. Carmilla's voice echoes again: "You have finally arrived here... The mirror of reminiscence is indeed here, heh. How long have I been wandering in darkness to finally find it... Ah... It has been a while since my heart has felt such pleasure... But to me... there is no more time... I need the power of those two girls, on this night with a beautiful moon and stars... Before the time of eternity faces its demise..."

Nostalgia starts playing

Chapter I 

"The light of the stars and moon illuminate us... it's still pretty bright even though it's the middle of the night". Luna answers Stella with a simple "yes" and then comments about how big and useless the stained glass windows of the church are. Stella almost sighes in relief until she has an uncanny feeling about that they are being watched, on which Luna agrees. Carmilla says something again and steps out of the shadows. Luna and Stella both scream. "Who are you...?!?". Carmilla remarks that there is a very nice scent of blood in the air. "Su, she probably is not a villager..." Carmilla introduces herself as the vampire of dusk and tells them that she has been called like that in folklore. Stella reacts surprised and says that vampires have gone extinct for many centuries and that they only appear in legends now. Luna says "a few centuries? Then she should be around this age...""Luna... please keep silent for a second!" Carmilla continues and tells them that the biggest part of the vampire clan has been defeated by humans, but that the ones who destroyed the last ones was her and that she remembers the successor of the destroyed ones. 

Discard ～崩壊戯曲～ starts playing

Chapter II

“Please don’t be so scared, didn’t you come for the mirror of reminiscence?” “We have been found out.” “This is a holy item, the mirror of reminiscence…” Luna and Stella walk towards it and are surprised it is really there. Carmilla asks the two for a favour after that and the two are surprised about that. “Ehm… What should we do… miss… vampire… Carmilla?”
“If you understand it, you will be able to help me more easily.” She continues to explain that the mirror has the power to look into the past and that it is indeed like in the legends. “But… I am a Vampire, a mirror does not reflect my body. So, I can’t use the mirror.” Luna responds “So instead of that, you want us to look into the past…?” “Yes, actually, before I became a vampire, I lived in a mansion and found a letter about it, containing why I was looking for  that mirror.” “And that letter… What has been written in it?” Stella asks cautiously. “Holy item, the mirror of reminiscence, looking for it, ……. Only about that… and now, I have finally found the mirror”. “How would we be able to look in the past…?” Is what Luna asks to Carmilla. “Swing your hands to the mirror and pray… and hope.  As you two have been living in the orphanage of a church, you are used to it, right?”. Stella is surprised that Carmilla knows about them. Carmilla tells they she indeed knows them and says that they are the reincarnation of the Ancient Saint (Stella) and Witch (Luna) and that they have even received the blessing of the stars (Stella) and moon (Luna). Luna remarks that she has insight in everything. Carmilla continues telling that the mirror of reminiscence had been enshrined somewhere but was stolen according to others and remarks there should certainly be a reason why the mirror is here now. “I understand” is what Luna blurts out. Stella gasps in reaction to that. Carmilla chuckles and continues her story again: “I thank you both, now, please try to wave your hands in front of the mirror immediately.” Stella cries out that Luna is way too quick with her decision. Luna responds casually with: “We didn’t have a choice either way, also, weren’t we looking for the mirror”. Stella then gives in, but still says that she wouldn’t have imagined they’d make dreams into reality like this. “Let’s go, Su” “No! My consciousness is…” The mirror makes a strange sound and a sound of people collapsing can be heard. Footsteps are heard again. Carmilla whispers softly: “I wonder what kinds of pasts you will show me, I count on you, little girls.”

The two girls then arrive in Tir Na Nog.


“Hnnnnnggg… Are you alive?” is what Luna says to Stella.
“Yes, I’m ok… but I feel so strange… Is this the past…”
“It’s afternoon… Probably the mirror is showing us the past…”
“Hey, Lu… I know this place! I have seen it in a picture book countless times, unmistakenly!”
“I’m also surprised, I have seen it a lot with you, Su”
“Ah, it’s so beautiful, so it really existed!”
“Awesome…”
“A fairytale place where everyone dreams of ”
“A place where fairies live, a place of youth.”



ティル・ナ・ノーグ starts playing

Chapter III

Carmilla pants. “I finally found the mirror and entrusted it to those two little girls… Soon… my boundaries will come… My vampiric urges… but… this is the fate I chose… I won’t regret it… I… was… headed towards death… as a human… by the hands of a vampire… By that same vampire… I was granted a demonic life of immortality… That vampire must have been sung about as a hero by humans… ehehe… Since then… How many moons have passed…?”

Carmilla continues to pant heavily.

“The traces of the sharp fangs still haven’t disappeared… They are hot, as if they are burning… Ahh… This is… the curse… As the last vampire… I… wanted… at least… that my heart would be like a human… Ngghh... Red blood… In this area… the word for it is.. ‘Fara’… I think… Ah.. no… I can’t… I have been trying to resist it… until now… I… can’t control it anymore!!! The Carved seal of the Cursed Fara… I couldn’t erase it and escape from it…”

 Chapter IV

The two girls still are in Tir Na Nog and they see a beautiful woman.
“Wait… She seems familiar…”
“Oh… Is that… Carmilla…?”
“Yes, but she seems different…”   
“Probably she can’t see us”
“But why… is she in paradise? Is this … Carmilla’s past?”
“She didn’t say she had a past like this”
“Lu, did you forget? The sisters talked a lot about this”
“I didn’t listen as seriously as you, Su”
“The fairy paradise Tir Na Nog is where the ancient gods drove away the evil and hid the World Tree ‘Yggdrasil’ is what is being said.”
“Yes, and that the dwellers of paradise, fairies, give the blessings of Yggdrasil to people who are lost”
“but when those lost ones return to the human world… they lose the memory of the paradise ”
“Will they forget everything?”
“Yes, Carmilla probably got lost, was led to this paradise and gained the blessings of Yggdrasil, while she was still alive.”
“Will we forget this too?”
“But… we are looking through the mirror… with our conciousnesses. In that case… We will probably return without forgetting.”
“I understand!”
“What…?”
“The letter Carmilla had… it was written down… by Carmilla herself.”
“Uh… yes… She probably wrote that letter after she came back from this paradise so she wouldn’t forget!”
“It’s all clear to me!”
Stella grins
“The past we both saw”
“was the forgotten memory of the fleeting Alfs”

Chapter V

Luna and Stella still are in Tir Na Nog.
“Ah… I’m kind of dizzy”
“Everything is fading to white…”
“Nggh! It was the same as when we came here!”
The two girls have now returned to the normal world again. The first one who says something is Luna:
“Are you alive…?”
“Ah… Yes, I’m okay. Uh… miss Carmilla?”
“Wait… something is off…”
Carmilla approaches and grins eerily. Then she says: “I’m sorry… it seems I’m a little late…”
Stella notices that something is off. “Compared to just now… her eyes have lit up in red…”
“It’s almost like the vampire in the legends itself…”
“No…”
Carmilla’s eerie voice resounds again:
“About the mirror, the letter, ah… my body is becoming hot”
“Wait, about the letter…”
“You two smell like sweet blood…”
“What should we do?!? Our words don’t reach her anymore!”
“This may be a pinch…”
“This urge…! I can’t resist it anymore!!! Now… Give yourselves over to me… As the last vampire, I will show you a beautiful dusk dyed in fresh blood”

Venus Blood starts playing

Chapter VI

Carmilla pants and laughs eerily.
“You can’t escape!”
“We have been caught! There is no way to run!”
“We need to use that power.”
“That power? You mean… The power of the shrine maidens?”
“And didn’t Carmilla receive the blessing of the world tree?”
“But the chance that the power to repel evil is still present at this moment is … pretty much zero!”
“You sound like a newbie, unlike your normal self, Su, besides do you want to become a fellow vampire?”
“I don’t want that! But, seeing Carmilla like this is also something I don’t want!”
“I believe in you, Su”
“Lu… I understand, let’s do it together.”
“Ok… let’s make the miracle happen”
“The holy maiden of eternity”
“The witch of eternity”
Stella and Luna say the following together:  
“I, who have received the blessing of the stars/moon, will devote my prayers right now!”
*The two pray to the holy maiden and the witch*
Carmilla is shocked and reacts with:
“What? This light… Ahh! It’s so bright! The… carved seal…!
Then Stella explains that the seal has been removed and Luna explains that the vampire urges have been undone by the blessing of the moon.
Carmilla is still shocked and replies with:
“The bloodthirst… the pain… they are disappearing? You two did that just now?”
“Yes, you received a blessings from the shrine maidens of the starts and the moon”
“We tried this for the first time… but it looks like it all went well. It is not something we should use for every occasion… the power of the holy maiden and the witch…”
“I see… so the power hidden by this village… was this? I came back to life… I think?”
“It is not like that, we cannot revive people from death,”
“But we gave you back the heart you had as a human.”
“The heart I lost… My human heart…”
“Yes, we have released you from the pain and the urges that plagued you until now”
“Your heart… is like a human… but you are still half vampire”
Carmilla laughs mischievously: “Haha right… hahaha… I was saved by you two, eh!”
Stella also burst out in a laugh and says: “Ahhhhaha, yes, we did it. We did our best.”

“The prayers we devoted to the eternal world, a song that will give the soul peace, a song of absolute purity”

Ataraxia ～至純の詩～ starts playing

Epilogue 

“There still is some of the blessing of the world tree left inside Carmilla, eh?”
“Yes, that is why she was saved”
“The blessing of the world tree? What is that?”
“You have once been to the paradise of the fairies ‘Tir Na Nog’, there you received the blessing of the world tree to repel evil.”
“You have forgotten all about it, thanks to the prank of the fairies. The recipient of the letter was yourself, Carmilla.”
 “You surely wanted to convey that you are a blessed person, right?”
“In order to remember, you were guided to this place, where the mirror is, right?”
“The prank of the fairies, right…? I never would have thought that the mirror would have a power like this.”
“We also experienced a lot through the mirror and we saved a vampire. We let a miracle occur!”
“It was a strange experience.”
“By the way, Carmilla, do you have a real name?”
“Hmm, yes, she must have one. Carmilla is just the name of the vampire of the dusk as described in the legends.”
“Ah… yes… My real name is… Claire. Uhuhu, that is just a fleeting example of how I was called.”
“Ah… you were an alf.”
“Then, shall we call you ‘Miss Claire’ from now on?”
“Claire has died long ago, the one who is standing in front of you is the vampire of dusk, Carmilla.”
“I see.”
“I don’t know if you can call me ‘alive’ or ‘dead’, but oh well, it’s already the time of dawn”
“Oh no, already?”
“The light of the sun. Are you okay with that?”
“It’s unchangeably bright and light, I cannot handle it. But if you compare it to before, it’s a little better.“
“I’m glad, what will you do from now on.”
“Hmm.. It’s not unlikely that I will blend into the world of humans, if you want to ask me anything, I can even visit you two at the orphanage. At that time, you can even welcome me there”
“Ah yes! At that time we can even pray together in the chapel!”

“Ufufu, I might hold back on that…”
“Yes... praying is a little boring”
“Lu… Don’t say such…”
“Ah? Carmilla? She is already gone?”
“Disappeared with a frightening speed.”
“Hey, Lu, what if the previous Carmilla, Claire, would have predicted a meeting with us in the far future?”
“I also thought something along those lines, if that was the case, Carmilla surely has a fascinating ability.”
“Yea…”
Stella yawns
“Ah… I became sleepy…”
“Ah.. but it’s already morning… let’s sleep a little and go home…”
“But we need to find the sisters before noon… Ah… God”
“That’s what you say, but you already are seated”
“But Ru… Ah… by the way… I have the feeling that being introduced to a vampire was something forbidden…”
“But she is half human…”
“Let’s think of it later…”
“We’ll get scolded… later…”

Carmilla now ends the story with a tiny monologue: “Have I found peace like this? The tale that those two have woven is a tale of eternity. I’m looking forward to it”


Translation note for Ch3:

I have no idea what Fara is actually, but I think it refers to “blood”. I have looked into Celtic Mythology (because of Tir Na Nog and the writer of the story of Carmilla are both from Irish/Celtic descent… but no luck). From the context I figure it's a made up word for blood.

Translation note for Epilogue:
Luna means implies that everyone who leaves Tir Na Nog forgets of its existence and that Carmilla had written a letter to herself to remember it, this is described in one of the songs. Her kuudere style of speaking is often hard to figure out.
