(Kotou no joukei) - The spectacle of the Lone Tower - Romaji and Translation

This song tells the story of Rapunzel, the girl in the tower, but slightly different...
So in the story by Grimm, a couple is unable to produce a child. Every day, the woman of the couple sees a bunch of beautiful Rapunzel flowers in a garden from the neighbours from her window, yet she cannot reach them. The garden is sheltered from the rest of the world with a high wall. The woman grows frailer by the day and as her death wish, she wishes to eat the Rapunzel flowers... Her husband decides to climb over the wall to obtain some of the flowers to let his wife live.... but the owner of the garden, a witch, suddenly stands in front of him. She cuts a deal with him, he gets the flowers, but she will get his daughter when she will be born. So the daughter of the couple is given to the witch and by the time she is a teenager she has grown so beautiful that the witch locks her in a solitary tower without entrance. Every day the witch comes visit and enters the tower through a braid, reaching to the ground of the tower, made out of Rapunzel's beautiful golden hair. One day a prince comes, lured by the beautiful singing of rapunzel wants to visit her, but cannot find the entrance to the tower... Another day, he hears the witch mumbling: "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let down your hair to me!" and a braid appears. The witch climbs up and the prince now understands the entrance.

The next day the prince calls out for her: "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let down your hair to me!"and the girl lets down her hair. Shocked that a boy came to visit her, she was frightened. But after a while she realises the prince is kind and when he asks her for marriage, she is overwhelmed by happiness. From then on, the prince would visit the girl every evening, while the witch would visit during daytime. She accidentally reveals the secret of their meetings by saying that the witch is heavier than the prince. The witch then comes up with a plan, she cuts off Rapunzel's hair, abandons the girl in the wilderness and then the old witch pretends to be her. When the prince calls out for Rapunzel again, the witch pulls him up.... and tells him he will NEVER see his girl again. Then the boy attempted to kill himself by jumping out of the tower, but he survived... The attempt made him lose his sight because his eyes were prickled out by the thorns. He wandered around in misery since then, Years later, the girl Rapunzel and her twins recognised his weeping voice and they met again.... the tears of joy of Rapunzel healing the Prince's blindness and they returned to the prince's country. Then they lived happily ever after :)!

In this song, the story of the witch, Rapunzel and the prince is told. I translate this from Rapunzel's point of view. The monster with the long hair is the witch, who is Rapunzel's "mother".
The red apple is the turning point, lain down by Colette, in which Rapunzel finds her prince again .

This song tells the good end, where the prince survives, the song in Grimgald tells the bad end, where the prince does not survive.

I love the parts where Hato sings
目の前から消え去る and when she hits 3 C's in different octaves subsequently, this is very hard to do!

hikari todokanu mori no oku takaku sobieru majo no tou
nagai kami no kaibutsu ni au to moto no sekai e wa kaerenai

Deep inside a forest where the light cannot reach, there stands a tower of a witch
Those who meet the monster with the long hair, cannot return to the world they came from

In this town, a legend has been passed down for a very long time
but now, everyone has forgotten the tale [that they heard when they were a child]

tada me ni hansha suru dake no sekai miteita...

The world that only exists in reflections of eyes... I have seen it...

jiyuu to iu imi sura towazu
haha to yobareru hito shinji utai tsudzuketeita

The only thing I needed was something that was called freedom, no matter how
I kept believing in the person that was called "mother" and continued to sing

sono neiro wa totsuzen hibiku
kami wo naderu yasashii yubi

That timbre suddenly reverberates
Affectionate fingers stroke my hair

yuraida shikai dareka no hohoemi
me no mae kara kiesaru
ano toki no zansou wasurarerarenai
ososugita yubi kasame ochiru
aa...

The wavering view, someone's smile
they have disappeared in front of my eyes
I cannot forget the the imprint of that time that went by so slowly
The hands that stole you away and let you fall
aa...

kare no kieta utsuro na hibi
soko ni hikaru -akai ringo-

The days without him, were hollow
Near me, something glittered - a red apple -

ochiru are wa nani? itsuka no joukei?
hisashiburi ni azayaka
ano toki no zankyou wasurarerarenai
waratteru no wa anata?

What is that thing that fell just now? Will that spectacle happen some day?
It has been a long time since I have seen something this bright
I cannot forget the reverberation of that day
Is that you who is laughing?

daijoubu yo mou jama wa sasenai dare mo
ano toki wo douka wasuretakunai zutto
anata wo...

Don't you worry anymore, I will not let anyone interfere!
Whether I forget that time or not,
I shall not forget you, forever....

hikari todokanu mori no oku takaku sobieru majo no tou
tou no shita natsukashii jikan ga nagai kami no mukou yureteta

Deep inside a forest where the light cannot reach, there stands a tower of a witch
At the bottom of the tower, long hair was flowing, reminding of a distant nostalgic time

Translation notes:

I chose to translate the hair  as if it is Rapunzel's property, which is technically seen true. Picture the witch stroking the cut off braid here.

This sentence does not seem logical in my eyes, therefore I will reshuffle the words into:
指掠め + 遅すぎた落ちる

塔の下懐かしい時間が 長い髪の向こう揺れてた
This sentence is a little riddled, I translated the purple and black seperately, because i think those parts belong to eachother. The stanza effectively becomes:
塔の下長い髪が揺れてた 懐かしい時間の向こう

向こう is translated with "distant".
