呪われし亡国のメフィストフェレス (Norowareshi boukoku no Mephistopheles) CD Translation
"A visitor at this place... poor you... are you lost? But oh well,
would you like to listen to my story for a little bit? Me? I wait here
for my big brother, he is so kind... He has always cared for me, who has
a frail body. Inside this large mansion... our lives used to be so
idyllic... But one day... My brother sold his soul to a black demon...
to save me, who was sickly. And then, he was taken away to function as a
vessel for the ressurrected demon king and turned into the physique
that the demon wished for. That is why I also forged a pact with a
demon. My wish was to stay next to my big brother... for that sake, I
would do anything. You already understand, no? The one who has summoned
you... it was me.. I lied about you being lost... uhuhuhuhu... A demon
desires a human's soul... " - Melusine talking to the listener in 断章 -Mephistopheles- (Danshou -Mephistopheles-).
Hurray, I have started on the translation of the 呪われし亡国のメフィストフェレス (Norowareshi boukoku no Mephistopheles) CD, which tells the backstory of Melusine.
If you have not heard the crossfade: here is the XFD ->
The title will be translated as "Mephistopheles of the cursed ruined country". Mephistopheles is the name of black demon that possesses the brother of Melusine. The epithet for this CD is ARS-020 and 7th fantasia. From now on I will refer to this cd (呪われし亡国のメフィストフェレス) as "Boukoku".
The story, as introduced in the first paragraph is basically the background story of Melusine, a sickly girl, who lives in a mansion with her big brother. One day her big brother forges a pact with a black demon, who happens to be the demon king. He did this in order to save his little sister, Melusine, from her disease. So, he was kidnapped by the demon and Melusine literally would do anything to be with her big brother. She feels a twisted sense of love for him... and she would even go as far as to forge a pact with a demon to be with her big brother... Basically every song tells that story... except the 4th track, which is about Melusine inviting you to a ball.

The order in which I liked the songs is 3=2>5>4.
The parts I like most in the songs are when Yuki and eupe climb up in pitch to the high F.... it's breathtakingly beautiful. In the second track, the part of 永遠に消えない鎖.. is just too beautiful to capture in words.. In the third track the part of ...「願い」があるならば禁じられた儀式... is so amazing, the way Yuki jumps from the A to the F just makes me feel so amazed... The fourth track also has some really good passages, 廻る 廻る 月の下で ゆらゆらと sounds really amazing... just wow... be prepared for awesomeness from eupe. Like Yuki, she also pulls off that jump from the A to the F so well... From track 5, I actually like the instrumentals more than the melody. The voiced part is also a major strong point in this track. Uesaka Sumire has really good intonation... perfect to suit those darker background instrumentals.
You know, it's actually almost unbelievable, but I actually had a hard time assigning my preference in this CD. Even though I like 4 the least, it is still almost on par with 2 and 3. The songs are all exceptionally well performed, while at first I preferred the Operetta CD over this one, I now think this is my second favourite LostFairy CD!

シアワセの青 (Shiawase no ao) - Blue Happiness - Romaji and Translation
This is the last song of the album. Here Colette starts her journey to find true happiness, she travels through stories... chasing a blue bird thinking it leads her to happiness... and in the end the blue bird is "caught", she realises that her journey was very important to realise her own happiness.
The contents are pretty much the same as Re Storia ~青の軌跡~, but in the Re Storia she has fully realised her happiness and here she is very close to. The travel in this CD will lead her to Melusine and then finally she tells the story to Melusine in the Re Storia version. This version focusses more on what Colette has been doing and the ReStoria version tells us more about the scenery and how the blue bird leads Colette to Grimgald.
This song is again translated from the point of view of Colette. The main message of the song from Colette is: "When you seek happiness, the road to it is your happiness"

孤独の真珠 (Kodoku no shinju) - The Pearl of Loneliness - Romaji and Translation
I think this song is my favourite from the album even though it is not fast paced. I like the sad melancholy with which hato sings and the sad content of the story.
This song tells the story of a little mermaid who attempts to saves a prince. She fell in love and wanted to grow legs to be with the prince on the surface. She trades in her voice, but yet she cannot be with her prince. So she decides to suicide... to be together with her prince in the afterlife... what a sad song....
The "lonely pearl" is a metaphor for the lonely little mermaid who can't talk but is really beautiful. The pearl turns black near the end of the song, which shows the corruption in her heart, leading her to suicide. The turning point in the song, with the red apple from Colette is where she realises that living has no more meaning.
To be honest, this song is not as straightforward as I thought. There is some ambiguity in some sentences and some word choices. I tried my best to make it a coherent story. I translate from the view of the mermaid.

Do you know the magic word that has as meaning "Cuteness is justice"? That is Madrigale! Oh wait... wrong album.
Well, this song certainly tells us that being cute has its advantages.
This song tells a slightly different version of red riding hood.
The original story can be "summarised as follows"
"Hey little red riding hood where are you going? All alone in the forest!"
"I'm going to bring some cookies to grandmother who lives in the forest!"
The wolf eats her grandma and disguises as her to also eat the little girl, by tricking her into believing he is her grandma and can't see well. But the little girl and a hunter that Red Riding hood met in the forest. are smarter than the wolf. When the wolf sleeps, they cut his belly open, rescue grandma and put stones in his belly. The poor wolf is thirsty and goes outside to drink from a well, but due to the heaviness of the rocks he falls in the well and can't get up again.
In this version, the little red riding hood knows of her own cuteness and decides to take down the wolf herself by deceiving him. Colette marks a turning point by rolling a red apple her way.
I really like this song somehow, because I like the mischievous aura of the little red riding hood! The irony compared to the original story is a nice point in this song. Especially in the end when she says "Oh where are you my lovely mr. Wolf, life without you is boring", I can picture the sarcastic voice in which she says this, I can often appreciate sarcasm, which is actually usually not done in Japanese language. In this translation, I do not put "RRH/Red riding hood" in front of sentences that are said by her, because I translate from her POV. The stuff other people say will be marked with the person who says it.

孤塔の情景 (Kotou no joukei) - The spectacle of the Lone Tower - Romaji and Translation
This song tells the story of Rapunzel, the girl in the tower, but slightly different...
So in the story by Grimm, a couple is unable to produce a child. Every day, the woman of the couple sees a bunch of beautiful Rapunzel flowers in a garden from the neighbours from her window, yet she cannot reach them. The garden is sheltered from the rest of the world with a high wall. The woman grows frailer by the day and as her death wish, she wishes to eat the Rapunzel flowers... Her husband decides to climb over the wall to obtain some of the flowers to let his wife live.... but the owner of the garden, a witch, suddenly stands in front of him. She cuts a deal with him, he gets the flowers, but she will get his daughter when she will be born. So the daughter of the couple is given to the witch and by the time she is a teenager she has grown so beautiful that the witch locks her in a solitary tower without entrance. Every day the witch comes visit and enters the tower through a braid, reaching to the ground of the tower, made out of Rapunzel's beautiful golden hair. One day a prince comes, lured by the beautiful singing of rapunzel wants to visit her, but cannot find the entrance to the tower... Another day, he hears the witch mumbling: "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let down your hair to me!" and a braid appears. The witch climbs up and the prince now understands the entrance.
The next day the prince calls out for her: "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let down your hair to me!"and the girl lets down her hair. Shocked that a boy came to visit her, she was frightened. But after a while she realises the prince is kind and when he asks her for marriage, she is overwhelmed by happiness. From then on, the prince would visit the girl every evening, while the witch would visit during daytime. She accidentally reveals the secret of their meetings by saying that the witch is heavier than the prince. The witch then comes up with a plan, she cuts off Rapunzel's hair, abandons the girl in the wilderness and then the old witch pretends to be her. When the prince calls out for Rapunzel again, the witch pulls him up.... and tells him he will NEVER see his girl again. Then the boy attempted to kill himself by jumping out of the tower, but he survived... The attempt made him lose his sight because his eyes were prickled out by the thorns. He wandered around in misery since then, Years later, the girl Rapunzel and her twins recognised his weeping voice and they met again.... the tears of joy of Rapunzel healing the Prince's blindness and they returned to the prince's country. Then they lived happily ever after :)!
In this song, the story of the witch, Rapunzel and the prince is told. I translate this from Rapunzel's point of view. The monster with the long hair is the witch, who is Rapunzel's "mother".
The red apple is the turning point, lain down by Colette, in which Rapunzel finds her prince again .
This song tells the good end, where the prince survives, the song in Grimgald tells the bad end, where the prince does not survive.
I love the parts where Hato sings

I chose to translate the hair as if it is Rapunzel's property, which is technically seen true. Picture the witch stroking the cut off braid here.
遅すぎた 指 掠め落ちる
This sentence does not seem logical in my eyes, therefore I will reshuffle the words into:
指掠め + 遅すぎた落ちる
塔の下懐かしい時間が 長い髪の向こう揺れてた
This sentence is a little riddled, I translated the purple and black seperately, because i think those parts belong to eachother. The stanza effectively becomes:
塔の下長い髪が揺れてた 懐かしい時間の向こう
向こう is translated with "distant".

イツワリの檻 (Itsuwari no Ori) - Cage of Fabrication - Romaji and Translation
The first song sings about a pair of siblings, Hänsel and Gretel. This song is largely based on the tale by Grimm. Basically, the two kids are abandoned by their parents and are lost in the forest. Wait... they are not only lost... they are hungry as well. They stumble upon a sweet candy castle and Gretel starts eating from it... Hänsel also eats a bit, but suddenly a bad witch appears. They are separated and the witch plans to eat the children (in the original version, she plans to feed Hänsel to Gretel, actually it doesn't seem that clear to me who is saving who in this song). But suddenly she starts nibbling on a red apple. A turning point appears and Gretel saves Hänsel by setting the candy castle on fire. They finally escape...
Compared to the reworked version of Grimgald: Grimgald tells the story that happens after the siblings have killed the witch. They liked what they did to the witch so much, that they continued to hunt for "fresh blood".
The symbolism of the red apple appears here for the first time. This apple indicates that "Colette has been in the story to change things up a bit." This is her "Fushigi na Chikara"/" Mysterious power" to alter the story. She gives the kids a turning point, to kill the witch who has captured one of them.

Gretel: I cannot stop my tears, it's scary, it's cold, I'm sad! (don't let go of my hand!)
It is kind of like as if we are guided... (chasing after a white bird)
