Kizamareshi Yuukyuu no Ataraxia - CD translation

And we continue with the other cd that precedes the New cross fantasia, which is the Ataraxia CD.
The word Ataraxia means "a negation of disturbances" or "imperturbability". It describes the story of a girl infatuated with light and a girl infatuated with darkness and how they meet eachother. The romaji is courtesy of my friend SuperCoolGuy, thanks so much, you truly are supercool ;). Check his Tumblr for Ariabl'eyes, ArsMagna Omnibus and Denpa translations ^^!
If there is any inconsistencies in my blog post format, blogger has updated to a new lay out for me, why can't companies keep the same look for their products forever... I mean... I finally got used to using that and now I need to use my brain to learn the new layout...

Anyway, this CD is the first CD to have two "protagonists", Luna and Stella. The golden blonde haired is Stella, the Silver haired heterochromia girl is called luna. I suspected as much, but it was confirmed when i looked at -LostFairy-'s booth and saw the acryl keyholders. The two characters are voiced by Tanezaki Atsumi and Fukada Ai.

The story is a continuation of both the Minnezang and the Grimoire CDs. It goes as follows:
"An endless melody, a fantasy of black and white". *A clock starts ticking* A holy girl who continued to pray with affection. To connect the story of eternity to the beautiful future, she revives it inside herself, conveying a dazzling light. A witch of the abyss, loved by nothingness, in order to forget the abominable tragedy that had occured in her past, she revives it inside herself, conveying deep darkness. Two miracles appeared, in the end they were meant to be carried on their backs. Piling up fate of the past, led by the stars, the two met. And then they took the small hands of eachother and started to walk. The engraved memory and the connected souls of the two girls... The Ataraxia of Light and Darkness.

The order I liked the songs in is definitely 4>5 >6 >2>3. I am a little biased towards liking Yuki songs because I simply adore her voice (oops, sorry not sorry, but Yuki is great!). Melody wise and composition wise it's the best from the album IMO. I love the howls after 断罪ヲ!Also, the wink to the Strega song from the grimoire album ehehehe. I liked that a lot. In my first -LostFairy- days, I desperately searched for this song, always confusing it with Romanesque, because youtube uploaders always just uploaded the picture of the album and I confused songs lol. The 6th song is actually remake of the fourth song from the very first album! I yet have to discover a link between the albums though. Katakiri Rekka, from Closed underground also takes part in this CD!

狛茉璃奈(こまつりな) birthday tribute!

It's June 2nd, this means it's Komatsu Rina's Birthday! Happy Birthday!
Thank you so much for singing in Symholic. Your amazing voice that brings songs to life means the world to me as translator.

As a tribute I used my Altaria translation to sing an English version!
I have shared my English singable lyrics in the Altaria post too!

If you're a fan of Lalue/Komatsu Rina you ought to check out this! Nagi no Asukara is so nostalgic for me, so I was almost moved to tears when I saw that she had covered it with a Lilyphaesque arrange. Hnnng, I truly might be one of the biggest non-Japanese Symholic lovers.
She will have a live at 22:00 JST tonight too, (15:00 CEST for me :)) I need to choose between pokemon direct and Rinanchu's birthday.... I think I might watch both at the same time!

Discard ~崩壊戯曲~ (Discard ~Hokai Gikyoku~) - Discard ~ Opera of Decay ~ - Romaji and Translation

And we have arrived at the last song. It is about the destruction of the vampire race. The song is a little vague... very little is told. What I deduce is that the vampire race is murdered out by the devils. Or that they have signaled their own demise. I shall leave it up to your imagination too. Thank you SuperCoolGuy for proofreading this one!

The song reappears in the Nostalgia CD. This time sung by Yuki. When I compared the booklet pages, I saw that in Hato's version the latin is stated and the repeated lyrics (verse 3 and 4) are not repeated and in Yuki's version the latin is NOT stated, yet the repeated lyrics are stated again. The brackets are put around different words too. Not that it matters much for the meaning, it's just pure preference. There is no difference in the kanji or kana used as far as I am concerned. Hence, I made a compromise, I restated the lyrics like in Yuki's version AND I left in the Latin like in Hato's version. The brackets are put on the words that were bracketed in Hato's version (the original). The best of two worlds :).

The Latin was deciphered with the help of one of my friends Rosa Vis. I am sorry if I get your pronouns wrong. They study Latin and Greek at the university. I have had Latin in middle and high school too, but as this text is probably just put in google translate and outputted like nonsense... As there are only nominativi used, no verbs, there is no way of making a proper sentence out of that without leaving something up to imagination. It's like you say, I red bike city, ground close five clock. They are just nouns and adjectives without any interconnection. Hence, I had trouble figure it out myself. Thanks to her I could make proper sentences of them. Thank you so much for your help!

This is a pretty cool song btw ;), Definitely recommend a listen. Many familiar names appear in the credits too. Luna from Ariabl'eyes, LifeRubato, Miku from Seraph and a few others!

What remains on this rotten ground is only solitude…

血に飢えし魔獣の狂気 (Chi ni Ueshi Maju no Kyouki) - Madness of the bloodthirsty Magical Beast - Romaji and Translation

Oh this is a terrible song in meaning... The song draws inspiration and compares itself from the fairytale of the Pied Piper of Hameln, in German it's called "Der Rattenfänger von Hameln", lit. the rat catcher of Hameln. In that story, rats plague the German city Hamelin/Hameln. To rid the city of the rats, the mayor claims to award a sum of money to the person who can save the city. As a result, a piper dresses up in pied clothing to save the city from a rat plague. He plays his pipe and lets the rats drown in the Weser river. The city is saved, hurray, but the mayor does not keep his promise and doesn't pay the piper. The Piper takes vengeance by abducting ~ 130 children from the city of Hameln when the adults are not watching. From here on, the stories of the piper diverge, hence I have chosen the story that fits this song the most to further explain the plot. The Pied Piper led the children to the top of Koppelberg Hill and from there on he took them to a beautiful utopia, a place called Transylvania... which also happens to be where Carmilla lives...

In this song Carmilla is overtaken by madness and bites countless orphans, who on their turn also get invaded by madness. There sadly was no way to turn the children back to how they were... as they release black light from their eyes it's evident they are possessed. So they were killed as salvation... It is not clear who kills them, but it is suggested it is someone that is like the Pied Piper. Hence the analogy is sketched in the last part of the song.

This song is my least favourite, the last part just doesn't fit the track anymore in my opinion. Yet it's still a good song composition and lyric wise.

光は闇に飲まれ 迫る破壊の衝動

Light is engulfed by darkness, the urge of destruction draws near

哀れで無垢な影が すべてを朱く染める

An innocent shadow dyes everything red in her misery

身体が軋んで 狂気に侵されてく
呻きが・・・ 聞こえる・・・ 魂の咆哮

karada ga kishinde kyouki ni okasareteku
umeki ga... kikoeru... tamashii no houkou

Her body creaks, being invaded by madness, her groans…
the howl of her soul, can be heard.

醜い姿になり 血を貪る孤児たちが
歪な黒い光 解き放つ
心なき群れを 人に戻す術はなく
救いを願うこの声は 届かない・・・

minikui sugata ni nari chi wo museboru kojitachi ga

kokoronaki mure wo hito ni modosu sube wa naku

Becoming ugly figures, the orphans craved for blood
They unleashed distorted black light,
There is no way to return a heartless herd back to humans
Their voices that wish for salvation don’t reach her…

哀れで無垢な影が すべてを朱く染める

An innocent shadow dyes everything red in her misery

意識が霞んで 狂気に侵されてく
叫びが・・・聞こえる・・・魂の慟哭

ishiki ga kasunde kyouki ni okasareteku

Their consciousness becomes hazy…. Screams invaded by madness…
The howl of their souls, can be heard.

醜い姿になり 血を貪る孤児たちが
歪な黒い光 解き放つ
心なき群れを 人に戻す術はなく
せめて最期の救いは この手で・・・

minikui sugata ni nari chi wo museboru kojitachi ga

semete saigo no sukui wa kono te de...

Becoming ugly figures, the orphans craved for blood
They unleashed distorted black light,
There is no way to return a heartless herd back to humans
At least, their last salvations, were by these hands

あぁ・・・まるで おとぎ話ね
施しを悔いる 憂いのRattenfänger
さあ 永遠の眠り 与えようと
宵闇に響く 孤児たちの断末魔・・・

ah... marude otogibanashi ne
hodokoshi wo kuiru urei no Rattenfänger
saa towa no nemuri ataeyou
yoiyami ni hibiku kojitachi no danmatsuma...

Ah... it’s almost like a fairytale.
Like the Rattenfänger of trouble, regretting his charity
“Come, I shall give you eternal sleep”
echoed in dusk, the last moments of the orphans.

朱い・・・朱い・・・朱い・・・闇に沈む・・・

akai... akai... akai... yami ni shizumu...

Red… red… red… sinking into darkness

灰となり 空へ

hai to nari sora he

Reduced to ashes, towards the sky

Translation notes:

- 哀れで無垢な影が すべてを朱く染める
I translated as: An innocent shadow dyes everything red in her misery and not "A miserable innocent shadow" as the latter would better correspond to 哀れな無垢な影が

- さあ 永遠の眠り 与えようと
宵闇に響く 孤児たちの断末魔・・・

宵闇に響く  can refer to both the stanza before and the part that comes after this in the same stanza, I tried to translate it in such a way that it corresponds to both.

- 朱い
This way of writing red actually means vermilion, but it just sounds bad in the translation of the stanza, as it is way too long.

背徳のアンティフォナ (Haitoku no Antiphona) - Immoral Antiphon - Romaji and Translation

Song two! Having become a vampire, the poor girl doesn't want to give up on being a human at first. She is reluctant to bite others and lives a miserable life, repeatedly questioning herself about what she should do. This song is definitely my favourite from the album and also my all time favourite to translate from LostFairy. Its complexity amazes me.
So, what is an Antiphon? An antiphon is a piece of music, derived from the Ancient Greek words ἀντί (anti), being "opposite" and φωνή (fonè), which means "voice" together it becomes ἀντίφωνον/ἀντίφωνα (the latter is plural). This type of music is often sung in Christian churches. A common pattern in antiphona is that there is a call and response type of chorus/verse. You can indeed see it back in the song. We have two singers, Yuki and Hato, and in like 70% of the song, they call and respond to eachother. I will not colour code this in the Romaji and Kanji here, maybe on another day, but it is a pain, really. It is not done in the booklet either, however, it is indicated very clearly there as the level of the text (the amount of tabs or spaces) clearly indicates who sings. The word immorality comes back in the lyrics, as the girl slowly loses all her morality and falls back into the dark life of a vampire.

This song has also been featured on Nostalgia Prelude, including an instrumental, but instead of Hato, it features Sayu (I will tag her in this post too, as the song is essentially the same). I'm glad Yuki still sings for -LostFairy- as I really love Yuki's voice! So, this song was actually very hard to translate if you haven't listened to the song. You need to find the right connections and determine who is speaking and from whose perspective you are watching. Thankfully Hato and Yuki's (or in the other version Sayu and Yuki's) voices are very different, making it easier for me to determine who sings what.

Seriously this song is my favourite in the entire album, Yuki's godly voice, Hato's unique breathy voice, the complexity of the lyrics, the call and response, the half intertwining lines, the epic drums, guitar and bass. The organ at the beginning... Ahh, it is so good, i can keep listening to both versions. I'm so happy I could translate this song to share its meaning with you all...

Edit: 15/10/2022: This song has again been featured on a new album, 終焉を謳うアリエッタ, , Vocals by Yuki and Sayu again.

Red: Hato or Sayu  (as vampire)
Black: Yuki (as devil)

Translation notes:
- 巣食う
 ただの 悪魔 versus 救う悪魔.

The first time, Hato (probably, as it is not clearly audible, but we can deduce it based on either the position of the lyrics and the meaning it carries) sings 'haunting', as the devil haunted her in her attempt to die. Yuki bit her, meaning that she probably is a vampire, yet she claims to be a "normal"  demon.

There is no second lyric under the second one, yet I did give it a second meaning. Yuki and Hato sing the same in the second time, yet their point of view is different. Yuki sings from the viewpoint of the devil (the saviour) and Hato/Sayu sings from the point of the vampire girl (the one who wants to be saved).

Both lyrics 巣食う and 救う are pronounced as "すくう", the first one being Ateji and the latter one a kun-yomi. I chose the meaning "haunt" over "nest", because that is more logical in context. The second time it is sung as "saving", this basically is an antithese in its own, while it's pronounced the same. This is so interesting, and things like this are a prime example of why I LOVE translating!

- 「簡巣、求めるままに」
「出来ない・・・同じ人間を・・・」
What does the devil mean by "seeking it" ? Of course blood. "I am thirsty"  also refers to thirsty for blood, not to thirsting for water. But... Carmilla is reluctant to bite others... as she thinks she is still human.

Noble Blood - Romaji and Translation

Imagine wanting to die... yet you were cursed at death's door to become a vampire. That is what happens to our poor girl. She wishes to die, probably it's a suicide, and then death reaper comes for her. Instead of dying and going to heaven/hell, she ends up as a high ranked vampire, being cursed with near eternal life in darkness. Talk about cruel!

I have had help from BocuD as a proofreader, thank you very much for your effort ^^, it was a pleasure working with you!

yoiyami no Dystopia tsumetai tsuki no hikari
kairaku wo motome chi no shoudou ni shitagau mama shinobiyoru

A dystopia of dusk, the light of the cold moon
Those who thirst for blood, creep up, seeking pleasure…

誘う風の匂い・・・眠る孤独な城 その中に

sasou kaze no nioi... nemuru kodoku na shiro sono naka ni

The smell of the wind invites them… inside a lonely sleeping castle

宵闇のDystopia夢の淵を彷徨う
死神に魅入られた 哀れな少女が一人

yoiyami no Dystopia yume no fuchi wo samayou
shinigami ni miirareta awarena shoujo ga hitori

A dystopia of dusk, a pitiful girl wandered in the abyss of her dreams
Bewitched by the grim reaper, she was all by herself

狂おしく咲き乱れる 薔薇のように美しく そして儚く
懐かしい記憶が 少しだけ蘇る・・・

kuruuoshiku sakimidareru bara no you ni utsukushiku soshite hakanaku
natsukashii kioku ga sukoshi dake yomigaeru...

Blooming madly in profusion, beautifully like a rose, yet fleeting
She recalls nostalgic memories, only for a small moment

死に逝く運命 抗えずに滅びを待つ貴方は
恐れもせずでも消え去りそうな声で 語りかける

shi ni yuku sadame aragaezu ni horobi wo matsu anata wa
osore mo sezu demo kiesari sou na koe de katari kakeru

Having as fate “to die”, she fearlessly waited for destruction without resisting,
And with a seemingly fading voice the reaper spoke:

「空を見上げ 死を待つしかないのなら
どうか深い闇の世界へ 導いて・・・」

[sora wo miage shi wo matsushikanai no nara
douka fukai yami no sekai he michibiite...]

[If you look up to the sky and nothing but death is waiting,
You are somehow led to an even darker world…]

鮮血のDystopia鋭い牙を突き刺す
首筋から流れる 甘く香る紅い雫

senketsu no Dystopia surudoi kiba wo tsuki sasu
kubisuji kara nagareru amaku kaoru akai shizuku

A dystopia of fresh blood, sharp fangs pierced through
Sweetly scented red drops flowed from the back of her neck

絶望の先 貴方が「気高き血」の息吹で 生まれ変わる
光射す場所には もう戻れない

zetsubou no saki anata ga 「kedakaki chi」 no ibuki de umarekawaru
hikari sasu basho ni wa mou modorenai

Beyond despair, you will be reborn in the breath of [Noble Blood],
you can no longer return to the place where light shines.

闇に堕ちた今宵は・・・
漆黒に染まり踊る 麗しき舞踏会

yami ni ochita koyoi wa...
kuro ni somari odoru uruwashiki butoukai

Tonight, you have fallen into darkness… and you shall dance at the lovely ball, dyed in jet
black.

Translation notes:
- 死に逝く運命 抗えずに滅びを待つ貴方は
恐れもせずでも消え去りそうな声で 語りかける

I have translated 貴方 as the death reaper, as the context suggests that he is the one talking to the girl. I have taken the sentences apart on the way stated above.

- 絶望の先
I have translated 先 as beyond. It is often not clear if the word refers to the situation before or after. From this stanza on it's again the death reaper talking to the girl.
